Reiki
What is Reiki?
The word Reiki can be translated as 'Universal Life Energy' and is a system of natural healing which was rediscovered in Japan by Dr Mikao Usui (1865-1926) after many years of study, research and meditation. Reiki involves the practitioner directing the Universal Life energy (the energy that is all around us) through to the client to improve health and wellbeing.
What happens during a treatment?
With Reiki there is no need to remove any clothing. The practitioner gently and lightly places their hands non-intrusively on the body. The treatment usually takes around 1 hour and the receiver may feel very relaxed, a sense of calm, sometimes tingling sensations in the area being worked on, heat or coolness as the energy begins to rebalance.
What conditions is Reiki suitable for?
The purpose of Reiki is to treat holistically, that is, to help the whole person and on every level as well as promoting the body's regenerative self-healing ability. It is suitable for most people and works well alongside conventional medical treatment. Reiki can also be effective in controlling or helping to relieve pain and stress.
