Reflexology

Reflexology is a complimentary therapy involving the treatment of various disorders by applying pressure to the feet. Precise areas of the feet relate to particular parts of the body therefore the whole body can be treated via points on the feet which are called reflex areas.

What does a treatment involve?

The first visit will involve a consultation to determine your present and past health and lifestyle. After a foot soak and pre massage I will then use my hands to apply pressure to the feet . The pressure applied is firm but not heavy and in different parts of the feet different sensations will be felt. I will detect subtle changes in the specific points on the feet and this will indicate that the corresponding part of the body is out of balance. Gentle massage will be applied to these areas to help restore balance. To end the treatment there is a relaxing foot and leg massage.

How long does a treatment last?

A treatment session lasts one hour and a course of treatments may be recommended.

Who can benefit from reflexology?

Reflexology is suitable for all ages and may bring relief from a wide range of conditions such as :

  • Back pain
  • Migraine
  • Stress related conditions
  • Hormonal imbalances
  • Insomnia
  • Respiratory conditions
  • IBS
  • Allergies
  • Fluid retention
  • PMS

One of the most important benefits of reflexology is relaxation and symptoms that have occured in the body due to stress can be eased.

After a treatment:

Reactions to the treatment can occur as the body begins to clear out toxins. Most people feel a sense of wellbeing and relaxationbut sometimes a person may experience symptoms such as tiredness, headaches and nausea. This is part of the healing process and these symptoms are an encouraging sign as they indicate that the treatment is working.
