Non-surgical anti-wrinkle and skin treatments

Medical treatments that reduce or smooth out excessive winkles but do not include invasive surgery, such as a facelift, fall into the category of non-surgical treatments. The majority of these treatments, according to the British Association of Cosmetic Nurses BACN 2013), are carried out in the UK by Aesthetic Nurses and can include

  • Controlled injections of certain medicines into specific muscles
  • Dermal fillers
  • Chemical Peels
  • Medical microdermabrasion
  • Mesotherapy
  • Laser, Intense Pulsed Light, Radiofrequency and Ultra Sound
  • Medical needling
  • Carboxytherapy

Skin treatments can also be carried out by aesthetic nurses to enhance patients' satisfaction with their appearance. Indications for treatments can include

  • Acne scarring
  • Fine winkles
  • Fine winkles
  • Sun damaged skin
  • Stretch marks

Some treatments require prescription strength skin care systems and non-surgical approaches. Other regimes identify a less aggressive approach to skin care and can include the use of natural creams and remedies including skin care advice.
